Catching up.

IMG_8793Today had to deal with my web site due to them changing my server. How I hate this part of running a business. Here’s hoping there are no glitches. Saying that it’s been awhile since I last posted or did any edit work on the website . So today spent two hours on the phone with a tech and now will spend another hour or so editing. Got to try and keep my web page up to date if possible. Now in a perfect world I would find someone to do this for me and not cost an arm and a leg. Or maybe take a class to learn this I don’t know but I do need to do something.

Today also Making  up 30 books for a class I will be teaching in Swift Current on April 9th .  Then will pack up quilts for the trunk show and organized all the handouts for the upcoming classes. It’s been a wonderful journey teaching and wow seen a ton of new places. Yes this weekend I am off to Swift Current but honestly I have never been anywhere in Sask. so it’s exciting.

Also been working on a quilt this week that will be donate for a fund raising event in Fernie at the end of this month. My husband took some of his photo’s and printed them on fabric. Then I have spent the last couple of days piecing it all together. Goal is to have it on the frame tomorrow and quilted up so I can take it with me and sew the binding on while sitting in a hotel room. Here’s hoping it will raise a few dollars. A queen size quilt is worth over $500 dollars . Okay before you say it yes you have $100 dollars for the top,  $45 batting and  $70 for backing fabric, then 3 full days of work so yep that’s a fair price for a queen size quilt.

What else has been going on ? Last month we had a new window installed in the studio and wow what a difference it has made.  New bolts of fabric arrived in the studio yesterday. We now carry over thirty bolts of 108 ” double wide backing fabrics . It’s nice having such a selection as it makes finishing ones quilt simpler. Looking for a teacher to bring in but so far that’s been a bust. The economy and our dollar suck which is making it hard to break even. So this year thinking it’s not going to happen.

We did try holding small classes every Mondays but after two months this was a bust. Might try it again later in the year. Again economy in Calgary things are tight.

At the end of May we will be at Heritage park again which is always exciting to see old friends and meet new people. Will try and get a few new quilts done for the show but only time will tell if that happens.

So there you have it , things are always happening , stop on in , drop off a quilt stay for a visit. Or book a class.

Now back to work I go.
